I was recently reading a fellow blogger’s blog and I just had to click on Rachel’s blog post titled Celebrating Two Years of Marriage Today! Rachel is the brains behind one of my favorite blogs, Rachel’s Reviews & Giveaways. Even though she is a Florida Gator Fan and I’m a die-hard LSU Tiger I think we would get along in life. Sorry Rachel, I couldn’t resist. All joking aside the reason I was eager to read Rachel’s post about her recent anniversary is because just last week my husband and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. I believe in marriage and everything it stands for no matter who it is getting married, it’s a commitment first and that’s what’s important.
I’m so proud of us for making it through a few hard times. We’ve stuck by each other and will continue to do so. He’s so supportive of everything I do and want to carry out. I’m always there for him too. Celebrating marriage and yes it’s something to celebrate keeps getting better with each year that passes. When I got married I had no idea how much work it would be and rewarding at the same time. Looking back at how far we’ve come is what makes me the proudest.
Married 2/2/06 — Us 6 years later
I always enjoy looking at other people’s wedding photos because unfortunately I didn’t have a big wedding nor did I get to wear the dress of my dreams. I love the photo Rachel shared in her blog post. Their happiness, joy and love for each other was captured so perfectly in their sparkler farewell photo. Candid photos are the best. I wish we had more photos of our wedding.
Sean and I were so eager to marry each other and neither one of us wanted to plan a big wedding. We were going to just go to the Courthouse but we decided the last-minute to have a few friends and my mom join us at the wedding commissioner’s house. I wore a vail and we arrived separately at the commissioner’s house. I hid in the bathroom and my mom walked me down the hall. We tried to have our little ceremony as traditional as possible and with the help of some friends it was. Looking back I wish I would have taken that ridiculous black flower off the dress.
Rachel and her husband celebrated their anniversary at The Melting Pot and it’s funny because I’ve wanted to go there for 6 years now but we’ve yet to go so I’m totally jealous. I honestly don’t know why but we haven’t been yet. There is a Melting Pot here in Baton Rouge after all. Maybe next year we will go. This year we ate at Texas de Brazil.
Now, are you ready for the sad news? I’ve lost my wedding set, yes, it’s been missing for a while now and I can’t find it. I know Sean will end up buying me a new set, maybe something from Diamond Queensland, but honestly, it will never be the same. I miss my wedding set so much. I feel in love with my engagement ring and wedding band, and I don’t know if any would ever come close to the beauty of my lost set. I’ll be as optimistic as I can though.
