During my behind the scenes tour at Disney Animation’s Studio we had a Wreck-It Ralph voice recording session and Press Day #DisneyMoviesEvent. All 25 bloggers got the unique opportunity to go inside the very same recording booth used by John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and the many other voice actors. Earlier in the day I had the chance to screen an unfinished copy of Wreck-It Ralph and instantly fell in love with Vanellope von Schweetz, she so adorable and memorable. Little did I know I would get the chance to voice Vanellope in an actual recording booth. I was coached by Storyboard Artist, Raymond Persi, he’s also the voice of Gene, and the Zombie in Wreck-It Ralph. Raymond was so nice, he was a good coach, too bad I was so nervous.
You can watch the clip of me voicing Vanellope above. I was so nervous! I really wish I could go back and do it again. I know I would have done a better job. A huge thanks to Gabe and Raymond for taking time out of their busy schedule to let us play around and pretend to be voice actors. Before this little adventure, I had no idea how much work went into doing voice over work. A lot more goes into it then I thought. Gabe, Recording Booth Technician and Raymond told us that John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman would often work together in the same booth so they could play off each other and get deeper into character. We were even shown a few clips of them working side-by-side.
I remember telling you I would let you know who won the Sugar Rush race car competition. Here’s a hint, it wasn’t me, but the amazing Jim won with this beauty. The Art Director, Mike Gabriel for Wreck-It Ralph was the judge. Mike said it was Jim’s close attention to detail that got him the big win.
Make sure you check out Wreck-It Ralph on Facebook.
Wreck-It Ralph smashes into theaters November 2, 2012.
