I will be sharing some of my favorite foods, side dishes, drinks, and desserts with you this year. The very first thing I wanted to feature here at Fabulous Mom Blog is my fresh guacamole. I remember watching my grandmother make her famous guacamole when she’d come and visit us. My dad and I were the only ones in the family that liked guacamole, my mother wouldn’t touch the stuff, she didn’t even like the smell or look of an avocado. Needless to say, we only enjoyed guacamole every once in a blue moon.
Now that I’m out and on my own I make my fresh guacamole very often, my husband loves it and so does just about everyone else in my life. Jasmine loves my fresh guacamole and enjoys helping me prepare it.
I find a lot of my fresh ingredients at our local farmers market and produce stand. When I get the chance I visit the French Market in New Orleans where I can find fresh avocados at half the price and better the quality.
Not to mention fresh guacamole is very heathy for you. I’d eat it everyday if I could. Guacamole is good on some much, sandwiches, tacos, and burgers, just to name a few.

- 4 Haas Avocados (make sure you choose ripe avocados - firm, not too soft)
- 1/4 cup Roma Tomatoes (diced)
- 1/4 cup Red Onion (diced)
- 1 Lime (fresh squeezed juice of 1 small lime)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Cilantro (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Fresh Garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Coarse Sea Salt
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
- pinch Cayenne Pepper
This recipe can easily be doubled for larger parties. Also, you can add a dollop of sour cream or cream cheese to make your guacamole a little creamier.
|Slice open 4 avocados. Remove the pits. Score avocado flesh with knife. Scoop out avocado flesh with a spoon into a medium size bowl.|
|Squeeze lime juice over avocados (this stops the oxidation of the avocado). Add tomatoes, garlic, onion, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Smash avoado and ingredients together using a large fork. Work the mixture till you're happy with the consistency.|
|Garnish with a little fresh cilantro and serve with tortilla chips.|
